Transforming Smart Home Technology
Moon by 1-Ring is a smart home security and automation system that brings all your devices together in one place. It keeps an eye on your home, automates everyday tasks, and offers all-around coverage, while working with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Zigbee, and Z-Wave so everything just connects and works smoothly.

Technical approach
The Moon project was designed to be the central home automation hub for a smart home system, bringing devices together in a seamless, intuitive way. From the start, our focus was on creating a system that was compact, efficient, and stable. To achieve this, we selected high-performance, low-power processors, advanced sensors, and a 360-degree HD camera to support security, automation, and environmental monitoring. The home automation controller also supported Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Zigbee, and Z-Wave, making it compatible with a wide variety of devices. While the system was designed to be compact and efficient, integrating high-performance streaming hardware with a System on Module (SOM) required careful management of power and heat. This ensured smooth full-view video streaming while maintaining reliable performance for other smart home functions.
Process Highlights

The ball-shaped device includes a camera on one side and microphones on all four sides, providing full environmental awareness. It actively responds to sound, detects nearby activity, and automatically sends alerts or starts live streaming to your phone when events occur.

The compact size of the hub required careful integration of high-quality sensors, a proper matrix, and camera optics for streaming. Using a System on Module (SOM) enabled smooth live streaming while addressing space, thermal management, and system prioritization challenges.

The Moon hub was designed to unify multiple smart devices into a single, efficient system. Development focused on achieving a compact, high-performance design with full 360-degree coverage, balancing power consumption, reliability, and overall system efficiency through extensive testing.

Precise magnetic calculations and mechanical engineering allowed the ball to levitate steadily and move smoothly up and down. The lightweight design includes built-in magnets, enabling easy placement on refrigerators or other metal surfaces, enhancing both usability and practicality.
